Services

Editing: Audio project editing and mastering. See below for more information on specific services.

Live Production: Live event audio operation and basic training services.

For standard edit services, up to 5 edit points are available. These are client specified sections to edit and must include their time stamps (location in an audio file) in order to locate and edit/remove. This service also includes:

  • Importing, cutting, and fading of all audio tracks (channels).
  • Track normalisation, level matching, equalisation (EQ), compression, and gating.
  • LUFS set to required standards (basic mastering)

Prices for this service are based per audio track.

This process includes a full assessment of the content in a project. Cuts and edit points are made to improve the general production flow and quality of the production. A project review document is provided alongside the completed project files detailing information related to the services provided. This service includes entitlement to one free project revision which can be discussed during the completion/review stage of a project. The price of this service is subject to the project requirements.

This process includes basic audio cleaning through the reduction of reverb, mouth clicks, noise, hums, filler words/sounds (“uhm”, “er”, “ah”, long pauses), recording mistakes, or other elements that could affect the desired flow of the recording. Advanced editing shares the entitlement to one additional revision edit with the Project Review service, which can be discussed on the review call of a project.

Please note: Not all "um"s are born equal (the same)! Some are attached to other words which makes removing them sound unnatural and causes the flow of a project to be adversely impacted. "Um"s that are stand-alone and not attached to other words can often be removed. The option to reduce additional clutch words like "yeah" and "like" is available. The price of this service is subject to project requirements.

Editing Information

You must provide any music, intros, outros, ads (etc.) that you require to be included in any project file.

Upload your file to Dropbox, Google Drive, or Wetransfer then create and share the link. It is not necessary to have contact information in order to do this. Sending the shared link to us directly allows us to acquire all shared files.

When considering the format of audio, for best quality, we recommend uncompressed formats like WAV or AIFF. MP3 and M4A are also very common and can yield good results. Unfortunately, project files cannot be accepted. If you have any concerns or queries relating to your raw audio files, please discuss this with us when submitting your service request.

Confirmation of orders are provided within 1 working day. There is a standard 4 working days turnaround time per project. For larger projects and orders requiring quicker turn around times, please use the request form to provide information relating to your requirements.

Pricing is determined by the amount of raw audio submitted (project length) and services required. For the majority of projects requiring work found within the request forms, a flat fee is provided.

Discounts are built into offers, especially for clients ordering multiple projects, looking to retain services our services, or paying for the project upfront (upon confirmation of order). Business relationships and your patronage are always considered valuable and any rates can be discussed after determining any ongoing project requirements.

The review document acts as a quality control report, highlighting the editing process and any issues or major observations. This report can include notes on corrections made, through to an assessment of the overall audio quality. It serves as documentation for the production process and can help identify areas for improvement in future projects. This report is particularly valuable for maintaining our standards and ensuring that any project meets both the industry and our own expectations/requirements.

Every Comprehensive and Advanced order includes one free revision. Additional revisions required after the first are charged at a flat hourly rate.

This service is not included in our offers as standard, however, it can be requested on order. Show notes can improve SEO and allow your podcast to be discovered by people searching for relevant topics. They're also a useful resource for listeners. Typically, notes are roughly 250 words.

Improvement of audio is almost always achievable. Great sound however, is entirely dependent on the quality of the raw audio. It is not possible with current technology to turn poor-sounding phone call recordings into studio-quality productions. This means that the initial recording quality is vital in determining the quality of the end product. If you have any concerns, don't hesitate to contact us for a quick assessment which can be conducted before ordering.

Redacting sections of a project can lead to audio sounding unnatural. Removing sections that leave the audio still sounding natural is advised and is primarily noticeable in transitions between sections or words that begin to sound sound odd and artificial. This risks being more distracting than "uhms, ahhs, etc", of which, listeners are more used to hearing.

This process reduces/mitigates this impact of unwanted noises (of a room, system, or unwanted source) in a recording. This service is effective primarily with consistent and subtle unwanted noise. It is rare that sporadic sounds and/or more severe sound issues can be removed or mitigated without significant loss of audio quality (such as dog barks, loud hisses, clicks, static, or any technical sound issues). If you have a concern regarding any noise in your raw files, a complimentary review of them to assess the standard of repair is available.

Audio Files

Unless specific requests are made, project files are formatted as MP3 320kbps files. If you require alternative formats or quality settings, please request this in your initial booking form and these can be arranged for an additional fee.

Standards for loudness levels are usually around -14 or -16 LUFS (podcast standard for streaming platforms). If you require alternative levels, standards, or know what platforms you will be using, please include this information in your request.

This service is not included in our offers, however it can be requested on order. You are responsible to provide any audio required as well detailing where additional audio files are to be used in relation to your project file.

Additional Information

The better your recordings are at the source (raw file quality), the better the results after editing. A 30 min consultation appointment is available to review your setup for recording audio.

Although there has been (and continues to be) progress in the development of AI tools, automated solutions are not fully adequate when removing all filler words or sounds. Automated tools often leave odd-sounding cuts and conversations feeling unnatural. Manually taking time to remove and review each cut/edit currently remains the most consistent way to ensure quality is maintained.

Kindly provide the podcast title, your name (or host/company name), any guest's names, and any other relevant information you wish to include, as well as a small thumbnail and these can be added to your project files.

Professional software utilised for editing includes Ableton Live, and plugins from iZotope, Waves, and Sonible.
